TMNT Redesign Project: Shredder & the Foot Clan

Each year for our Patreon during July, our supporters pick a property and Adam does a complete ground-up redesign. In 2020, the winner was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - one of Adam's favorite things, and something he'd wanted to take a swing at redesigning for a long time. This is the result. Enjoy!

Shredder: We wanted him to look regal; to combine advanced tech with classical style. He's a monarch and sees himself as nearly godlike--reincarnated after centuries.

Shredder's helmet is the most important part of his identity. Spent a lot of time designing it, and it was a style guide for the rest of his outfit.

Karai: Shredder's daughter, a college student being groomed to one day take over TCRI, as well as his right-hand in The Foot. Torn between her normal life and the criminal empire she's expected to inherit.

Foot Ninja: First is the rank-and-file, combining elements of a modern commando with traditional ninja garb. Very Storm Shadowy. The mutant warriors emerge as Shredder masters the ooze. Finally, Shredder's royal guard, the most elite warriors of the Foot.

Foot mask exploration: Lots of ideas, here. Balancing high-tech and old-school, just throwing a lot of stuff against the wall to see what sticks. Wound up using several for different roles in the Foot clan.

Foot mutants: Shredder makes several mutant creatures on his way to mastering the Ooze - Bludgeon, Alopex, and Koya. Each built for combat, Alopex will eventually change sides.
